Our Opportunities

UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES TO SUPPORT LLC

  • We are looking for Drivers, Scorers and Judges to join us on Wednesday, September 15th as the “Best Class of 2021” and the “Best Class of 2022” join forces for our Road Rally! Sign up using the form HERE.
  • We are looking for alum who are interested in helping to plan the Education (December), Law, Government, & Politics (February), Economic Development (March), Health & Wellness (April), and Loving Lorain County (May) session days. Did you have a favorite session day that you want to help bring to the next class? Maybe you work in one of these fields and want to share your knowledge with future leaders in our community. Maybe you want to reconnect with LLC, alumni, and community partners. We’re looking for you!! Sign up using the form HERE.
  • We are looking for alum who are interested in aiding in the facilitation of the Poverty Simulation on Wednesday, November 3rd for the Classes of 2021 and 2022. The simulation will take place from 9:30 to 11 am and we ask volunteers to arrive by 9 am to set up their stations. All station information will be emailed to you in advance so you will have the chance to review it and ask any questions needed. Sign up to volunteer HERE.

There are many ways to volunteer with LLC. Throughout the year we facilitate different programs and activities with our Signature Class, Intern Program, Community Supporters and friends.

A few volunteer options are:

  • Strides for Leadership 5k and Fun Walk (May)
  • Road Rally Driver or Site participant (August)
  • Holiday Open House (November/December)
  • Golf Outing (July)
  • College Intern Mentor (May – August)
    • 3 meetings with intern encouraged over the time frame
  • Networking and Interview Event with Interns (June/July) *date varies
  • Poverty Simulation Volunteer (November )
    • Can be scheduled with community partners throughout the year
  • Become a speaker
    • You can be added to our list of available speakers offered to our Community Partners and used for our Signature Class and Intern Program

Our mission at Voices for Children, a Lorain County Court Appointed Special Advocate Program (CASA/GAL), is to speak for the best interests of abused, neglected and dependent children who are involved in the Lorain County Juvenile Court System.Based on the belief that every child deserves a safe, permanent and nurturing home, Voices for Children works in the Court system with trained volunteers within our community in collaboration with key agencies, legal counsel, children services, etc, to serve as the child’s advocate and represent the child in the Juvenile Court System..

Our Board is expected to support the Voices for Children Program by aiding in fund raising, speaking engagements, marketing, grant writing and other additional items as needed.

The VFC Board meets on the first Thursday of each month. Meetings are from 6 pm to 7 pm and are located in the Lorain County Administration Building located at 226 Middle Avenue, Elyria, in the Law Library Conference Room on the first floor.

The Board meets monthly (except November and May) on the last Monday of each month. Meetings typically begin at noon. Meetings are held at the Goodwill offices at 145 Keep Court, Elyria. Committee meetings are held on the same dates, usually directly before or directly after Full Board sessions.
