The Midview Endowment Fund

The Midview Endowment Fund (MEF) is designed to provide support to students and teachers through funds donated by those concerned about educational opportunities for our youth. The MEF Board in partnership with the Community Foundation of Lorain County uses the interest from these donations to provide grants that support academic enrichment for students.

Blessing House

Blessing House is seeking a board member with expertise in either accounting or marketing/development.

The primary responsibilities are: 1) Organizational, 2) Governance-Assurance of Executive Performance, 3)Board Governance, and 4)Cultivating & Maintaining Relationships. Regular meetings of the board are held at least eight(8) times a year. Meetings are held at Grace Center next door to Blessing House (5440 Grove Ave. in Lorain). The board meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month beginning at 6:30pm. Board Members should be faithful to the mission and comfortable with fundraising.

Apollo's Fire-The Cleveland Baroque Orchestra is seeking board members from Lorain County. Entering its 21st year, Apollo's Fire's international reputation is growing at an uprecedented scale. While their home is Northeast Ohio, AF's reach extends nationally and internationally. AF is looking to fill new board seats with members representing a broad Northeast Ohio reach of its concert programming and audiences.

Hispanic Fund, Community Foundation of Lorain County

The Hispanic Fund of the Community Foundation of Lorain County is seeking individuals to serve on its advisory committee. The responsibilities of the committee is to attend and participate in monthly meetings, assist with fundraisers and other events and to promote the Hispanice Fund within the community. The committee meets every third Wednesday of the month at the Community Foundation offices.

Avon French Creek YMCA

The Avon French Creek YMCA is seeking new members to sit on its Advisory Board. This Advisory Board supports the Mission of the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, focusing on Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility (for Lorain County). Firelands Association of the Visual Arts-FAVA

FAVA (Firelands Association of the Visual Arts) of Oberlin is seeking board members! This dynamic non-profit arts organization actively engages in the promotion of the visual arts and art education in Lorain County!!! Board Meetings are held in Oberlin at the FAVA offices on the third Tuesday of each month. Meetings begin are from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. In addition to attending board meetings, board members are asked to help with gallery shows and at FAVA's annual fundraiser and other special events. Although not mandatory, having experience in business or edcuation would be helpful! The Nord Center

The Nord Center's mission is to provide comprehensive mental health services to greater Lorain County is looking for board members that will bring with them a variety of skills. No mental health backround is necessary to serve just a passion to make a difference! Monthly board meetings are held on the 1st Monday of the month at 5:30pm at The Nord Center. Catholic Charities Community Services of Lorain County is seeking volunteers to serve on its Advisory Council. The function of the Advisory Council is to support the mission and ensure the viability of the agency by providing assistance with program planning, evaluation, financial review and fundraising, marketing and public relations. The Advisory Council is instrumental in articulating the needs of the community and in helping staff to conduct community assessments which provide information on the issues and concerns facing the community.

Family Promise of Lorain County

The mission of Family Promise of Lorain County is to help families without homes achieve and sustain independence. Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) of the Family Promise of Lorain County, Inc. is an affiliate of the Family Promise Network Program. Locally, Family Promise of Lorain County, Inc. is here to help address the needs of homeless families in Lorain County providing shelter, meals, and support services to families without homes. The Family Promise Network is a cost-efficient and effective community response to homelessness which provides a way to house families who are experiencing homelessness.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County,an initiative of Leadership Lorain County Class of 1994 and the county's sole provider of one-to-one youth mentoring, is looking for board members to help implement the agency's aggressive growth plan. The agency board is an active, hands on board responsible for resource development, the long range plan, and self-governance. The board meets every other month on the third Thursday at 7:30 a.m. for one hour on even numbered months. Committee meetings scheduled as needed between board meetings (There are four standing committees: resource development, program impact, pr, and recruitment, board development and finance). Every board member is expected to participate in the agency's premier fund raiser, Bowl for Kids Sake.
