Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County, an initiative of Leadership Lorain County Class of 1994 and the county's sole provider of one-to-one youth mentoring, is looking for board members to help implement the agency's aggressive growth plan. The agency board is an active, hands on board responsible for resource development, the long range plan, and self-governance. The board meets every other month on the third Thursday at 7:30 a.m. for one hour on even numbered months. Committee meetings scheduled as needed between board meetings (resource development, pr/recruitment, board development and program impact). Every board member is expected to participate in the agency's premier fund raiser, Bowl for Kids Sake.

PCGC gives consumers the option of having their spiritual values included in their counseling. PCGC has a sliding fee scale for clients with low to moderate income or for cients that are underinsured or uninsured.

The Volunteer Guardianship Program of Lorain County is a program of Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry. Their Mission is to enhance the quality of life of indigent, incompetent, older adults in Lorain County by providing trained, qualified volunteer legal guardians to serve as concerned, caring advocates and surrogate decisionmakers when no less restrictive alternative to guardianship is available.

The Western Reserve Land Conservancy - Firelands Chapter

The Firelands Land Conservancy is looking for board members interested in land preservation in Lorain, Erie, Huron and Western Cuyahoga counties. We work to conserve land in perpetuity through partnerships, voluntary conservation options and education. The Educational Service Center Endowment Fund is looking for 2 to 3 board members from the community-at-large. They meet the second Tuesday of each month except for July, at 7:30 a.m. at the Service Center on Lake Avenue. Board members would be expected to help with fundraising and making grants from the fund. Rondell Belt is the contact person at 324-5777 ext. 1137 or rbelt@leeca.org. They fund some really neat projects with the gifted and talented programs, early childhood education and homeless shelters, and I think someone who has an interest in education would really enjoy working with them.

Bellefaire Jewish Children's Bureau is a non-profit agency concerned with the quality of life for and committed to serving the needs of children, youth and their families.
