Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County,an initiative of Leadership Lorain County Class of 1994 and the county's sole provider of one-to-one youth mentoring, is looking for board members to help implement the agency's aggressive growth plan. The agency board is an active, hands on board responsible for resource development, the long range plan, and self-governance. The board meets every other month on the third Thursday at 7:30 a.m. for one hour on even numbered months. Committee meetings scheduled as needed between board meetings (There are four standing committees: resource development, program impact, pr, and recruitment, board development and finance). Every board member is expected to participate in the agency's premier fund raiser, Bowl for Kids Sake.

Educational Service Center Endowment Fund

The Educational Service Center Endowment Fund is looking for 2 to 3 board members from the community-at-large. They meet the second Tuesday of each month except for July, at 7:30 a.m. at the Service Center on Lake Avenue. Board members would be expected to help with fundraising and making grants from the fund. Michael Tomlin-Brenner is the contact person at 440-324-5777, ext. 1130 or tomlin-brenner@esclc.org. The Board funds some really neat projects with the gifted and talented programs, early childhood education and homeless shelters, and someone who has an interest in education would really enjoy working with them.

Bellefaire Jewish Children's Bureau

Bellefaire Jewish Children's Bureau is a non-profit agency, founded as an orphanage in 1868. Today, the agency provides a variety of behavioral health and social services for children, youth and families. The agency’s Lorain County Office provides services for children and teens, ages 6 to 17, including: Outpatient Therapy; Psychiatry Services; a Juvenile Offender Program; School Based Counseling, Consultation, Education and Prevention; In Home Services; and the Lorain Substance Abuse/Mental Health (LSA/MH) Treatment Program for youth with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues.
